The Paleo Approach Cookbook Review

I was so excited to receive my copy of The Paleo Approach Cookbook. I have been waiting for this cookbook since the day I finished reading The Paleo Approach. Needless to say, The Paleo Approach Cookbook did not disappoint.

My The Paleo Approach Coookbook is here!

Sarah Ballantyne has once again blown me away. The Paleo Approach Cookbook doesn’t just give you tons of delicious AIP paleo recipes. This huge cookbook includes chapters on what to eat, where to buy your AIP friendly foods, and how to eat AIP paleo on a budget. Plus, The Paleo Approach Cookbook offers information such as how to stock your pantry, storing your foods, cooking tips and tools, and managing your time in the kitchen.

The Paleo Approach Cookbook includes 6 full weeks of AIP paleo meal plans with grocery lists. This is a valuable resource for anyone new to the AIP. This information would have made my transition so much easier.

Now, I know you’re really interested in the recipes. Let me just say, there’s a lot to choose from. I wanted to cook a few dishes from The Paleo Approach Cookbook to give you an idea of the level of difficulty and diversity of the dishes. I chose Bone Broth, Braised Pork Chops with Apple and Fennel, Plantain Crackers, and Olive Oil Ice “Cream”.

The first recipe I cooked was Bone Broth. Typically, I make my bone broth by slow cooking it for 24 hours. The Paleo Approach Cookbook recipe required a longer cooking time. I followed the recipe and cooked my bone broth longer. I ended up with the best, most flavorful broth I’ve ever had. I am now using this recipe for all future bone broths.

My second recipe choice was Braised Pork Chops with Apple and Fennel. I am a huge fan of fennel. I love, love, love it! This recipe was not only very easy to follow, it is all cooked in one pot. You know how much I love that. You can see how gorgeous this dish turned out. And, the taste was unbelievable. So delicious! I will be making this dish again and again. Oh, and it freezes well. I had some left over, froze it, and reheated it a week later. It was just as tasty as the day I first cooked it.

Next, I made the Olive Oil Ice “Cream”. Oh….my….God! This stuff was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I have to say, I was a little skeptical at first. But, being the foodie that I am, I decided to give it a go. You can make this ice “cream” in an ice cream maker, or just toss it in the freezer. I have an ice cream maker; but, it’s such a pain in the butt, I didn’t want to use it. I followed the recipe for making it in the freezer. Once it had set, I served mine up with some locally crafted Strawberry-infused Balsamic Vinegar and frozen grapes. Every bite was like heaven in my mouth. I seriously could not stop eating it. The Olive Oil Ice “Cream” was so creamy and decadent. I can’t wait to make this for my foodie family to enjoy! It’s going to blow their minds!

Lastly, I made the Plantain Crackers. I was looking for something to put my zucchini and cauliflower cheeses on. I’m kind of obsessed with these cheeses. These were a little harder to make. You may not know this about me…..I’m not a good baker. I try my little heart out; but, I just can’t seem to get it right. Anyway, some of my Plantain Crackers came out crispy…..others did not. I’m pretty sure I didn’t smooth them out thin enough in the middle. But, the ones that did come out crispy were good. They worked perfectly with my veggie cheese.

There are many more recipes I’m dying to try. The Paleo Approach Cookbook has beaucoup to choose from, including offal dishes. Some of my future dishes include Calamari with Tzatziki Sauce, Marrow Spread with Parsley Salad, BBQ Pork Ribs, and Apple Pie-Stuffed Apples. It’s impossible for me to list all the dishes I’m going to make from The Paleo Approach Cookbook. I just don’t have the space in this post.

Anyhoo, I think you’ll be happy with The Paleo Approach Cookbook. Whether you’re new to AIP, or have been eating this way for a while, you’ll appreciate all of the information and recipes in this book. Sarah Ballantyne really has a way of giving you your money’s worth. She has the ability to include the most helpful information you need within the pages of her books. Not only am I impressed, I am grateful.
