I know I don’t typically give you two recipes in one week.  But, I’m sitting on a truckload of recipes right now.  Rather than continue to sit on them, I decide to post an extra one this week.  Boy, is it a good one.  There is a reason I named them “Ghee These Wings Are Tasty”!  I may be prejudiced; but, they are the best chicken wings I have ever tasted.

The original recipe does call for some level one reintroductions, and the reintroduction of ghee.  However, I have made modifications for those of you who are on elimination phase AIP, and those who are dairy free.  I’ve had them both ways.  They’re both delicious!

These “Ghee These Wings Are Tasty” chicken wings are gluten free, grain free, nut free, and nightshade free.  It’s not easy to find a good chicken wing recipe that has no nightshades.  Believe me, I’ve searched high and low.  Plus, this wing recipe is coated, just the way I love them.

Paleo Ghee These Wings Are Tasty Recipe- AIP Modifications

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 40 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour

Yield: 2 to 3 servings

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Place coating ingredients and chicken wings into large bowl or resealable plastic bag.
  3. Mix, coating wings well.
  4. Lay coated wings on large baking sheet pan, lined with parchment paper.
  5. Drizzle melted cooking fat over wings.
  6. Place in oven and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Flip wings over, and bake for another 10 minutes.
  8. During the last 10 minutes, make sauce by melting ghee over low heat.
  9. Once melted, add garlic and continue to heat for 10 minutes, over low heat.
  10. Remove wings from oven and place in large bowl.
  11. Pour hot sauce over wings and toss lightly.
  12. Plate wings.
  13. Pour extra sauce, from bottom of bowl, over wings.
  14. Serve.

AIP Paleo Sweet Potato Coconut Crisp Recipe

As you all know, Thanksgiving is almost here.  This is my first strict AIP Thanksgiving!  Last year was my first paleo Thanksgiving.  Because I was hosting it at my house last year, I created the recipe for my Sweet Potato Pecan Crisp.  It’s the same recipe I contributed to Paleo Magazine Readers’ Favorites Holiday Recipes.  But, this year I’m following the AIP.  So, rather than do without my favorite holiday dish, I created my AIP Paleo Sweet Potato Coconut Crisp recipe.  And, if I may say so myself, I think it’s even tastier!

AIP Paleo Slow Cooker Cranberry-Applesauce Recipe

As I’m writing this, I have the worst sore throat I’ve had in years.  I knew I was in trouble last night when I felt the first pain in my throat.  I immediately took my temperature.  It was 97.1.  Well, I didn’t have a fever, right? That must be a good thing, right?  No, it’s not a good thing.  I’ve learned, over time, that if I’m coming down with something, and my body is too busy attacking things it shouldn’t, it will not fight the invading germs.  If I had a fever, it would show that my immune system was working properly to rid my body of the invaders.  The fact that my body temperature was below normal, showed my immune system was on holiday.  So, I was very happy I had jarred some of my AIP Paleo Slow Cooker Cranberry-Applesauce.

They (I’m not quite sure who “they” are) say, an apple a day keeps the doctor away.  I’m going to put that to the test by eating my AIP Paleo Slow Cooker Cranberry-Applesauce every day until I’m better.  And, of course, I’m going to add other healing foods such as my bone broth, sardine salads, liver, and healing juices.  Hopefully, this bug will be gone before too long.

I think you’re really going to love this recipe.  There are less than 10 ingredients!  Plus, you just toss everything in your slow cooker and let it cook.  After 4 to 5 hours, you have healthy and delicious AIP Paleo Slow Cooker Cranberry-Applesauce!

AIP Paleo Slow Cooker Cranberry-Applesauce Recipe

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 5 hours

Total Time: 5 hours, 20 minutes

Yield: 8 cups ( 2 quarts)

Only 9 ingredients make up this deliciously healthy dish. Can it, jar it, or freeze it!

Ingredients

  • 15 apples (any variety), cored, peeled, and sliced
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (about 1/2 lemon)
  • 3/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/4 cup filtered water

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients in slow cooker.
  2. Set slow cooker to low.
  3. Cook for 4 to 5 hours, or until apples break up easily.
  4. Turn off slow cooker.
  5. Break up any apples that haven’t already broken down.
  6. Stir well.
  7. Serve warm or cold.

Notes

You can use a immersion blender to break up apples if you'd like it less chunky. Want to make it into a dessert? Whisk 1/2 cup cold coconut milk (full fat), together with 1 teaspoon each vanilla extract and maple syrup, to make a whipped topping. Place a dollop on top of warm Cranberry-Applesauce.
