Everything You Need To Start The Autoimmune Protocol (AIP)

So, you’ve put on your big girl or boy pants and decided to start the Autoimmune Protocol in the new year! Well, good for you! The hardest part is actually over. Deciding to take your health into your own hands is not easy. It often takes months, sometimes years, of suffering before we opt to make changes to our diets, in the hopes of recovering from our symptoms.

What I hope to do in this post and the next is make the transition to the Autoimmune Protocol as easy for you as possible. There are quite a few things I wish I would have known before I started the Autoimmune Protocol (AIP). In this post, I will focus on reference materials. These are the materials you’ll want to have by your side as you dip your toe into the Autoimmune Protocol pond, so to speak. Now, let’s get started.

The first resource you’re going to want to get is my printable list of foods to eat and foods to avoid on the Autoimmune Protocol. You can download your free copy here. This list will give you a pretty good idea of foods you’re going to be enjoying over the next month or so. With this list, you will be able to plan your grocery list and menu for the upcoming first week. It’s better if you plan ahead for what meals you’re going to eat when you begin the Autoimmune Protocol.

The next part of your plan should be finding recipes for foods you want to make in the upcoming weeks. You can start by checking out the recipes on my AIP Paleo board on Pinterest. You can see them here. Obviously, you will also find several recipes in my archives. Just type in AIP recipes in my Search tab. Also, don’t forget to check out the recipes of some of my fellow AIP bloggers, here. All of the bloggers listed are The Paleo Approach approved sites. Always look for that seal from The Paleo Mom to be sure you are getting a true, approved AIP recipe. Usually, you’ll find it in the blog’s sidebar.

Now that you have your recipes, it’s time to go grocery shopping. Just stick to your list of approved foods. It’s that easy.

Everyone wanting to start the Autoimmune Protocol should have a copy of The Paleo Approach by Dr. Sarah Ballentyne. You will find everything, and I do mean everything you need to start the Autoimmune Protocol (AIP) the right way.

If you feel you need an AIP coach, check out Angie Alt’s group here. Angie has also recently released The Alternative Autoimmune Cookbook. You can get a copy of her ebook here or her print version here. What I like most about this cookbook is that it also has recipes for once you begin reintroducing foods back into your diet. There is a ton of really good information for starting the Autoimmune Protocol elimination phase and how to reintroduce foods properly, once you’re ready for that phase.

As far as my favorite AIP cookbook, that is Mickey Trescott’s The Autoimmune Paleo Cookbook. I use many of Mickey’s recipes weekly. Her AIP Ranch dressing is a staple in my house. Enough said.

I find it very confusing; and, found Eileen Laird’s ebook, Reintroducing Foods On The Autoimmune Protocol, to be a lifesaver. This ebook can help you determine if you truly are ready for the reintroduction phase and everything you need to do it with ease.
