If you’re planning on sticking to your paleo diet over the holiday, you may need a little inspiration. As many of you know, I’m still on The 21-Day Sugar Detox; so, I’ll be sticking with it until I’m done. Luckily, Monday, I’m done. Yay!
Many of us will be celebrating with family and friends, over the weekend. We’ll be dealing with cookouts, aunt Clara’s sloppy potato salad, and Nana’s chocolate sheet cake. How do we possibly say “no” to everything? UH, YOU JUST DO. If you suffer from an autoimmune disease, especially celiac, just say “NO”. The momentary pleasure you receive from eating the forbidden food, will not make up for the suffering afterward. Unless, you’re looking for an excuse to get away from your family. But, even if that’s the case, there has to be an easier way.
I’ve collected some of my favorite paleo and gluten free recipes for foods you can bring to your family gathering. You can also do little changes, such as putting your hot dog, hamburger or sausages on lettuce leaves instead of buns. Or, you can make an inside out burger by putting the hamburger meats on the outside, and filling it with lettuce, tomatoes, etc. And, don’t forget to check the condiment labels for hidden gluten and allergens. It may be better to just do without. Also, be on the lookout for grillers who like to put the hamburger buns on the grill. Try to get your meat before they do that.
You can also check out my Pinterest boards for more recipes and ideas. And, don’t forget your gluten free beer!
