So, I’m sure the title of this post has you curious. Is she getting ready to confess something? Has she finally gone completely mad? Why is she cursing (sort of) on her blog?
Well, first off, I had to use the word bullshit because that’s the word the person I’m going to talk about used in her post on Facebook. And, I haven’t gone mad; but, I am angry. Lastly, no, I have nothing to confess. I actually put my real, healthy lifestyle out there for you all to see.
Actually, the reason for this post, and my anger, is a post I saw on Facebook, by one of the biggest fitness personalities, who I actually really admire (or at least used to). Basically, she said that Instagram was bullshit, and that it didn’t show a true depiction of posters’ healthy diets and lifestyles. She then posted a photo of a couple of hot dogs on what I’m guessing was whole wheat buns. Now, I know what she was trying to do. I know she was trying to show that she was just like everyone else. But, at the same time, she managed to bash an entire community of people who actually do live their daily lives in a healing, health promoting way. And, we certainly don’t look at our lives or work as bullshit.
This kind of judgement and ignorance is exactly the crap we need to move away from. I can’t possibly speak for everyone on Instagram. But, I can speak for myself and several of my fellow bloggers who promote a healing lifestyle in the paleo, AIP, real food and keto communities. Just about every day, we post our real food meals. We don’t do this to feed our own egos. We do this to help you. We want to inspire you to eat healthier meals, to exercise, to batch cook, to heal autoimmunity, and the list goes on. And, most of us are not celebrities, on TV shows, and making tons of cash.
In reality, my diet is pretty impeccable. It has to be. I don’t want to reactivate my lupus. I don’t want to suffer the symptoms of my food allergies. When I make an unsuccessful reintroduction, I tell you about it. Every meal I post is exactly what I’m eating that day. No bullshit.
Alright, so I’ve said my peace. I just want you to know, the problem I had with that post was not the food she was eating. I don’t make judgements about people like that….at least not out loud or publicly. Hey, I never said I was perfect! My problem was the idea she put out to the public that because she allowed herself to “cheat” and eat not such healthy foods, no one else could possibly be truly eating healthy every day. Honestly, we all have busy, hectic lives. And, many of us DO eat healthy every single day, no matter what obstacles are thrown at us. We have actual goals of healing ourselves, making gains at the gym, maintaining our health, or whatever your reason. That type of dedication and discipline should be appreciated, not mocked.
My healthy lifestyle is not bullshit! And, that makes you, judgy post writer, the biggest loser. (hint, hint)
As always, I wish you good health…….and, good food!
