Today, I have a nice, easy Instant Pot recipe for you, Smothered Cajun Greens. This recipe is an easy way to get some color on your plate. My Instant Pot has given me a way to cut my cooking time down to 20 minutes! That’s a time savings of over an hour!

These flavorful greens can be cooked Cajun style in less than 30 minutes. You can serve them as a side, or as a main dish.
Ingredients
- 6 cups raw greens (collard, mustard, turnip, spinach, kale, etc.)
- 1 turnip, chopped
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 pound fully cooked, uncured ham, cut into large chunks
- 1 tablespoon animal fat ( I used bacon fat)
- 2 teaspoons (about 2 cloves) crushed garlic
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup poultry broth ( bone broth, if you have it)
Instructions
- Place all ingredients into Instant Pot
- Close lid.
- Press Manual button and set to 20 minute cook time.
- Press Pressure button to set on high pressure.
- When done cooking, turn off Instant Pot.
- Allow pressure to reduce naturally for 10 minutes.
- Turn pressure valve to Venting.
- Open lid once all pressure is released.
- Stir.
- Serve.
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen me post all the wonderful dishes I cook in my Instant Pot. I use it practically every day, sometimes two or three times a day. If you’ve been considering getting one, do it. I have no idea how I lived without for so long. I used to watch my grandmother cook in hers. All I knew was that she was using the pot that hissed, spit, and made a lot of noise. Little did I know then how brilliant she was. Now that I have my Instant Pot, I know exactly how smart she was!
Next month, some really great things will be happening in the AIP community. There are new AIP cookbooks releasing, and an amazing new free resource we’ve been working on, I know you will LOVE! I’ll be able to let you know more about that next week.
So, enjoy this week’s recipe! As always, good health to you all!

I love the fact that the ingredients are simply placed in the Instant Pot and cooked, just like that. It was a really tasty dish, my family enjoyed it a lot. Not personally a fan of turnip but this dish made me change my mind! Thanks, Tara!
Thanks Dora! I’m so happy you and your family enjoyed it! That means a lot coming from you! Smooches!
